5 Door Lock Problems That Should Not Be Ignored

Door lock problems occur from time to time. Just like every other stuff, door locks can wear or break in time, and this is unavoidable. Thankfully, many door lock issues can be repaired before they become so serious.

As much as possible, try not to ignore your door lock problems as they tend to grow and cause more issues at an inconvenient time if not fixed immediately. So, if you are currently dealing with a door lock issue, then better check the common door lock problems that you may potentially encounter.

Broken key in a lock

Breaking a door key in a lock can be one of the most frustrating and challenging door lock problems to deal with. Don’t get troubled if this happens to you. You can easily get the broken key out off the lock by using pliers.

Use the pliers to grip the key and pull it out. Feel free to use either a long-nose or needle-nose pliers. Take your time and try to remove the broken key as carefully as you can to prevent damaging the lock further.

Door lock works slowly

Interior and exterior locks can freeze and get dirty over time. Also, the little internal parts in the lock eventually wear out and even break. When your door lock is frozen, dirty and broken, you may find it quite hard to lock your doors. For this, try to disassemble the entire lock to determine if something is broken.

Loose doorknob

Believe it or not, doors knobs can become loose and this is one of the most common door locks you may encounter.  Fortunately, dealing with loose knobs is quite easy. All you have to do is to tighten them again and you are good to go.

Faulty locks

Faulty locks are typically caused by a worn down or broken internal mechanism. Dealing with faulty locks can be quite confusing and intimidating. If you can fix this by yourself, then that is great. However, better leave it to the professional locksmiths when in doubt.

Warped doors

Poor weather conditions can affect your doors and their frames, leading them to warp from time to time. When your doors are warped, you may find it a bit difficult to lock your doors. Don’t worry when your doors became distorted because this door lock issue is usually easy to fix.
